H. Hocking Cheng:Chairman and CEO

Mr. Cheng is currently the chairman and CEO of Intelisures. He is committed to introducing the international advanced business model into China, and provides managed care solutions for various healthcare providers and payers.

Prior to Intellisures, Mr. Cheng served for 12 years at Aetna Inc. in several senior management roles in its headquarters strategic planning department, the Greater China region and the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to that, Mr. Cheng managed Ernst Young’s M&A transaction advisory practice pertaining to the U.S. healthcare industry.

Mr. Cheng is an executive council member on the Medical Insurance Commission of China Social Insurance Society, and is a fellow of the Aspen Institute. He also serves as a non-executive council member of the China Health Insurance Journal. 

Mr. Cheng obtained his M.S. degree from Harvard Medical School and MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management. Mr. Cheng completed his undergraduate degree at Shanghai JiaoTong University School of Medicine where he was a founding team member at Shanghai Children’s Medical Center.


James Zheng:Director

Mr. Zheng, a Fellow of Society of Actuary, is a seasoned insurance executive with more than 20 years of domain experience specializing in Health Insurance. Mr. Zheng was previously employed by Aetna. During his tenure, he served as Regional Actuary in several regions responsible for managing nearly $5 billion in revenue and served as the head of the medical reform project. He was served as AVP, segment actuary for Individual commercial business responsible for product development, pricing and underwriting.

Mr. Zheng was the Vice President and Actuary in AIG. He acted as the Lead Actuary for AIG Global Health, where he conducted Pricing Review, Financial Planning, and Product/Business Development in support of expanding the health business at AIG both in the U.S. and in priority countries around the world. Key accomplishment includes: consolidated $4 billion health related business around the globe with comprehensive pricing reviews; led the digital transformation project for health business; directed a few health product innovation projects; led business model, product innovation and global opportunity prospecting.

His diverse professional experience also include serving as Senior Advisor for EmblemHealth; as a Consultant at Ernst & Young; as a Product Actuary at GE Employer Reinsurance Corporation (later acquired by Swiss Re); as a Product Actuary at HealthNet; and as a Senior Actuarial Associate at Manulife.


Ray Yang: Director

Before Marathon Venture Partners, Ray was a managing director at Northern Light Venture Capital, a China- focused early stage venture capital firm and was an investment director at Orchid Asia Group and helped establish its China operations. Before that, Ray was a commodity trader at Louis Dreyfus Corporation, focusing on agriculture commodities.

Prior to that, he was a vice commercial consul for the Consulate General of China in Houston, Texas, promoting trade and investment between China and the southern region of the United States. Previously, he worked at the Ministry of Commerce for four years in Beijing as a manager, where he supervised operations of the Economic & Commercial offices of the Chinese Embassies and Consulates.

Ray graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School.
